8月の暑い日に、
江戸文字体験をしてきました。
On a hot day of August,
I have been experiencing Edo characters.
Edo is a old name of Tokyo.
東京の下町、墨田区にある、アトリエ創芸館さんにお世話になりました。
I was indebted to “Atelier SOGEIKAN” in Sumida Ward, Tokyo’s downtown.

中に入ると、まず、提灯の多さにビックリ。
When entering inside, first I was surprised at the lots of lanterns.
作業中の提灯の山がありました。
9月15日、6日、17日の牛嶋神社のお祭りの準備だそうです。
※もう終わってしまいました。もう少し早くアップしていればと反省です。
There was a mountain of lanterns in operation.
It seems to be preparing the festival of Ushijima Shrine on September 15th, 6th and 17th in 2017.
※ It has already ended. I will reflect on it if I go up a bit sooner.
5年おきに大祭があって、
今年は、大祭の年。
There was a great festival every five years,
This year is the year of the big festival.
このお祭りの見どころは、本物の牛が
山車を引いて、
氏子の町を練り歩くことだそうです。
The attraction of this festival is that real cows pull mountain cars,
It is said that they walk around the town.
広い町を、
牛が２日間歩きとおすんだそうです。
It seems that cows walk for 2 days.
前回の大祭の時には、
福島で一生懸命歩く練習をした牛が、
被曝により東京に来れなくなってしまいました。
それで、急遽別の場所から、連れてきたそうなのですが、
小さい方の牛が、お祭りの途中から
「モー、モー」
と鳴き始めてしまったそうです。
その牛は、お祭りが終わって、1週間で死んでしまったそうで、
「モー歩けないよ。」という叫びだったらしいのです。
At the time of the last festival,
A cow who practiced walking hard in Fukushima,
they could not come to Tokyo because of radiation exposure .
So it seems that cows were brought from another place in a hurry,
The smaller cow, from the middle of the festival, started to say
“Moo, moo”
The cow seems to have died in the week after the festival ,
It seems that it was a scream called “I can not walk any moo(more).”
今回の牛さんは、準備万端で東京にやってくるとおっしゃってました。
It was said that the cows this time will come to Tokyo on ready.
ともかく、
今回、江戸文字を体験させて頂きました。
anyway,
This time, I had the opportunity to experience Edo letters.
江戸文字にはいろいろあって、
いわゆる御家流の様な、帳簿や公式文書に使われる文字とちがって、
看板として、目立つ、
庶民である江戸っ子が工夫して作ってきた書風なんだそうです。
There are various kinds of Edo letters,
Unlike the letters used for books and official documents, like the so-called “Oie ryu”,
It seems that common people in Edo Tokyo made this letters for signboards, for standing out,
確かに、御家流の流れるような行書体では、看板にしても目立ちませんものね。
歌舞伎文字、相撲文字、寄せ文字、
いろいろありますが、
どれも、それぞれの商売繁盛、大入りを願って書かれてきた思いがこもった文字です。
Kabuki characters, sumo wrestling characters,
They are characters which filled with wishes of each business prosperity, adventure.
Then about lesson.
まず、下書きの用紙に自分流に文字を書くと、
職人さんが直してくださいます。
First of all, if you write letters in your draft on a draft sheet,
The craftsman will fix it.
それをもとに、扇面に下書きして、墨で塗ります。
周りをちょっとデコレーションして完了。
Based on that, I draftes on a fan and paint it with ink.
Decorate around a bit and complete.
風流ではなく、今回は、風に柳、風柳と書きました。
しなやかに生きたいという、自分のスローガンでもあります。
