さて、先日、護国寺に行ってまいりました。
Well, the other day, I went to Gokoku-ji temple.
護国寺は5代将軍綱吉のお母様である桂昌院（1627~1705）の祈願寺として1681年に建立されました。
Gokokuji was built in 1681 as a prayer temple of Katsumonin (1627 – 1705), the mother of Tsunayoshi 5th shogun in Edo era.
桂昌院といえば、玉の輿です。
玉の輿（たまのこし）は、女性が金持ちの男性と結婚することにより、自分も裕福な立場になることですが、
この語源になったのが、桂昌院、通称お玉さんです。
京都の西陣の身分の低い八百屋の娘として産まれたお玉さん。
当時、格も高く由緒もあった西陣の大棚である本庄家の養女になりました。
そして、御小姓として3代将軍家光の側室のお万の方に仕え、いつの間にか、ご自身も側室になってしまい、生んだ子供は5代将軍綱吉になってしまいました。
Speaking of Ms. Keishoin, her rial name is Ms.Tama.
Ms. Tama was born as a daughter of a low green grocery store in Nishijin in Kyoto.
Later, she became a daughter of the Honjo family which is a large store of Nishijin.
And, she became a servant of Ms.Man who became a wife of the 3rd general Shogun.
Later Ms.Tama became a wife of the 3rd general Shogun, and get the child who became 5th shogun, Tunayoshi.
護国寺の本堂は、古いんですね。
1697年に建てられたそうです。
300年以上の古さです。
The main building of the temple of Gokokuji is very old.
It seems that it was built in 1697.
It is more than 300 years old.
東京は、火災・戦災により、
古い建物は少ない中、貴重な建物です。

近頃、日本家屋の屋根の造形を見ると興奮します。
建築学科の学生さん（2年前当時）によると、天然素材である木、力学計算しきれないんだそうです。
職人技の境地がカッコいいです！

According to a student in a department of Architecture (two years ago),
it seems that it is impossible to calculate the dynamics of natural trees.
