さて、2017年10月に、
I have a plan in October 2017.

NIIGATA　オフィスアートストリート

というイベントに参加させて頂けることになりました。

I’m going to have an exhibition in “Niigata Office Art Street”.

場所は、
第四銀行 新潟駅前支店様です。

My space will be Daishi Bank、Ltd, Niigata Ekimae Branch.

展示寸法はW4800×H2800×D300
大きいです。

 

先日、その下見に行ってまいりました。

I had a chance to see the space last week.

朝は、ミサイル騒動で新幹線が一時止まってしまい、ヒヤヒヤいたしましたが、

In the morning, there was an accident, and Shinkansen stopped.

すぐに復旧して、
一日、観光を楽しむことができました。

But, soon later Shinkansen moved, and I was able to going Niigata.

 

まず、新幹線の中からの景色。

At first,

Niigata is famous for good harvest of rice.

黄金の稲穂がみえました。
So,
I could see the golden rice fields.

新潟に着いてから、ピアBANDAIに行くと、海産物が豊富にありました。

At Niigata, I’ve been to Pier Banday, a good market of sea food.

ちなみに、バスの一日乗車券は500円。
自分で、日付を削って使います。

It’s good for you to buy 1 day ticket of local shightseeing bus.
It’s just 500 yen.

Please scrape silver square to show what day it is.

海の幸も、山の幸も豊富。

Niigata has abundant both seafood and vegetables.

 

かつて、その上、海上交通の要所でもあったので、
豪商が何件かいらっしゃる。

Besides, there were some wealthy merchants because it was a good point of the traffic on the seas.

その内の、斎藤家の一部分を見てきました。

I saw a house of Saito family.

 

贅沢とは、こうゆう風にするものなのかという、お手本のような建物でした。

It was a very luxury big house.

縁側の土間が家の中にスッポリ入ってしまっていたり、
床や天井が欅の高価そうな一枚板でできていたり、
欄間のレリーフに抜かりがなかったり、
ライトにも凝っていたり、
襖絵だってもちろんカッコいい。

 

 

これ、当初の1／5サイズだけを移築したといいます。
それだけでも、余裕で普通の家の3件分位の広さがありました。

This was 1/5 of original house.

But the size of this house is, I think, 3 times of common Japanese house.

 

多くのお客様を一度にお泊めできるように、旅館のように広いご自宅が必要だったとか。

 

It was used to lodge many visitors at a time.

これだけの豪商ができる地域ですから、
かつては争奪戦も何度もありました。

Niigata was a very rich place.
That’s why, I think, some rich family, such as Saito family, had came out.

 

歴史については、
新潟市歴史博物館がお勧めです。

About history of this place, I recomend to go to Niigatashi History museum.

 

動画や展示、いろいろ工夫してあって、
新潟が初めての私にも、わかりやすくて助かりました。
