先日、中央区観光協会のガイドにお世話になって、銀座散歩をしてきました。
Recently, I took a walk in Ginza.
今回のツアーで知った、
何も知らずに通り過ぎてしまっていたけれど、実は面白いネタが詰まっていた銀座をご紹介いたします。
Today, I would like to introduce Ginza, which was actually full of interesting stories.

1．和光の時計の針は何m？ You can see Wako’s clock nearby
銀座和光は、服部さんが始めた服部時計店として開業して、
明治27年1894年には、今の場所に引っ越してきました。
今の建物は2代目です。昭和7年1931年に建てられました。
Ginza Wako opened as Hattori watch shop started by Mr. Hattori, In 1894, Meiji 27.
He moved to the present place.
The current building is the second generation. It was built in 1931.
さて、ここで問題です。

和光と同じようにかなり以前から存在していたのが、
教文館
の建物です。
KyoBunKan building is also very old.
こちらは、キリスト教の本を売るお店だそうで、
あの「赤毛のアン」の翻訳で有名な村岡花子さんも、ここに勤めていたんだそうです。
This shop startes as selling Christian books shop,
Ms. Hanako Muraoka, famous for that translation of “Anne of Green Gables”, seems to have worked here.
2．鳩居堂は、元は何のお店だったでしょうか？Beginning of KyukyoDo
鳩居堂と言えば、日本の地価の最高価格の場所として有名です。
2017年7月3日の日本経済新聞の記事によりますと、
鳩居堂の地価は、バブル期越えだそうです。
32年間連続で第一位の場所が、鳩居堂の前。
一平方メートル当たり、4032万円。
過去最高だったバブル直後の1992年の記録3650万円を大きく上回りました。
Speaking of KyukyoDo, it is famous place as the highest land price in Japan.
The price is 40.32 million yen per square meter.
According to the article of Nihon Keizai Shimbun,Inc., Japanese Economic Press, on July 3, 2017,
the land value of KyukyoDo is beyond the bubble period, from 1980’s to early 1990’s.
The place keeps No.1 price for 32 years.
Until this year, 36.5 million yen was the highest price which was marked in 1992 right after the bubble period.
大きめの座布団を持っていって、
4000万円の上に座ってお茶でも優雅に飲みたいものです。
I would like to sit down on 40 million yen place with a good sofa and drink tea elegantly.
では、ここで問題です。
Here is a question.
こんなに高価な場所に君臨している鳩居堂さん、
もとは何屋さんだったでしょうか？
Was Kyukyodo whose place is very expencive doing originally?
答えは、薬屋さんです。
17世紀後半の1663年京都で創業しました。
The answer is a drugstore.
It was founded in Kyoto in 1663.
その後、1700年代から線香を製造するようになり、
1880年、明治維新の波に乗って東京出張所をつくり、書画用品・御香を専門に売るようになりました。
Since then, it began to produce incense from the 1700’s,
In 1880, this shop start to sell calligraphy works, paintings and incense at the Tokyo branch office in the Meiji Restoration era, late 1800’s.
3．数寄屋橋跡周辺にある碑や像 Is Sukiyabashi Bridge just Jiro?
数寄屋橋と言えば、
「君の名は」
アニメのじゃないですよ。
オリジナルの「君の名は」です。
Speaking of SukiyaBashi,
There is a famous soap drama, “What’s your name”
It’s not new animation.
その碑がこちらです。
The monument is here.
これ以外にも、数寄屋橋周辺には、いくつも碑があるんですね。
Besides this, there are several monuments around SukiyaBashi.
「ここ～ろの～、
そこ～まで～
しびれ～る よ～ぉな～」
「I feel completely
fascinated
to the bottom of my heart」
石原裕次郎さんの銀恋です。
This is the monument of Mr.Ishihara Yujiro’s Ginza love.
銀座のイメージとして「柳」の木が定着してますが、
銀座の柳の碑もあります。
As the image of Ginza “Willow” tree has settled,
there is a monument of the willow of Ginza.
ここ、銀座は、
・松を植えても
・楓を植えても
・さくらを植えても
育たない。
埋め立て地だったからか、育たない。
だけど、柳だけは元気に育つ。
それで柳並木ができていきました。
色っぽい風情の柳が残るとは、なんとも不思議です。
風に柳、風流違いの風柳ですね。
Here, Ginza,
· Even if you plant pine
· Even if you plant Kaede
· Even if you plant Sakura
these did not grow up.
Because Ginza is a landfill place, these did not fit.
But only willow grown up.
もう一つ、有名人の創った像が一つひっそりあります。
北村西望さんの作品です。
お名前だけ聞いても、ピンとこないですが、
「長崎平和記念像」を作った方だとお聞きすると、
「あ、あの先生ね」とうなずかれる方も多いと思います。
この先生は、1884年に長崎県に生まれ、芸大を出て、その後芸大の先生になった方です。
御長命で、102歳まで生きられたそうです。
There is another statue that was created by Japanese celebrities.
The name of celebrities is Mr.Saibo Kitamura.
I think you can’t remember this name. but,
When you here about “Nagasaki Peace Memorial Statue”,
you can remember this artist who he is.”
This artist was born in Nagasaki prefecture in 1884,
later he became a teacher of Tokyo art univercity.
He lived until the age of 102.
