武家にとって、将軍家や公家からお嫁さんをもらうことは、大変な名誉なことでした。

だから、そのお嫁さん専用の御殿を江戸内にわざわざ建てて、迎え入れたというんです。

しかも、その御殿、お嫁さんが亡くなったら取り壊してしまったそう。

For the samurai, it was a great honor to have a wife from a shogun or a  court noble.

So, a samurai family which got a wife from a shogun or a  court noble build a stately mansion for her.

Moreover, it seems that the mansion demolished after the wife died.

今見られないのは、残念ですね。

It is sorry that we can not see it now.

そして、何よりも、将軍家や公家から来たお嫁さんに子供が授かることが、とても重要だったとか。

And most of all, it was very important to have children of shoguns or court nobles.

権力や権威がある家との絆が深ければ深いほど、その武家が生き残れる確率が上がったということなんでしょうか。

Samurai families valued the relations with the authoritative family to survive.

それから、御殿には地震部屋というのがあった様子です。

You know, in Japan, there are many earthquakes.

So, it seems that there was an earthquake room in the mansion.

他の建物から独立しており、地震が起こると小さな御嫡子がいれば、家来の方々が抱きかかえて避難させていたんだそうです。

It was independent from other buildings and it seems that if an earthquake occurred small children were evacuated there.
