さて、本日は、上野公園の大仏です。
ここ数年でとても有名になりました。
落ちない大仏として。
ここで売っているお守りが、
受験によく効くと、
受験生やそのご家族がよくいらっしゃる場所になりました。
近くに湯島天神もありますし、
上野は、受験の神様の巡りができる場所ですね。
Well, today is the Great Buddha in Ueno Park.

The amulets sold here,
It is said that this amulets are effective for the entering examination for schools, universities of high schools and so on,
It became a place where students and their families often come.
There is Yushima Tenjin in the neighborhood,
Ueno is a place where the divines of examinations gather.
この落ちない大仏さま、
どうして、顔しかないのでしょうか？
This great Buddha who does not fall,
Why is there only face?
1923年の関東大震災の時、
あまりの大きな揺れで、お顔だけ落ちてしまったんだそうです。
At the time of the Great Kanto Earthquake of 1923,
It seems that only the face had fallen with so much big tremors.
そして、第二次世界大戦中、
あらゆる金属が供出しなくてはならなくなったのですが、
体だけ、供出されました。
And during WWⅡ,
Every metal had to be offered for bullets or cannons,
Only the body was offered.
お顔は、残されて、今は、レリーフのように
おしゃれに展示されてらっしゃいます。
凛々しいお顔。
Your face is left, now, like a relief
It is exhibited fashionably.
ここには、インド風のパゴタもございます。
こちらには、薬師如来さまと月光菩薩さま、日光菩薩さまが安置されています。
もとは、上野東照宮の中に安置されていました。
明治維新の時に、神仏分離令に従って、
神社の外に仏さまを出したのだそうです。
そのためか、御膳には、徳川の三つ葉葵の紋がありました。

Here, the Buddha of Healing, Moonlight Bodhisattva, Sunlight Bodhisattva are settled.
Originally, it was placed in Ueno Toshogu Shrine.
At the time of the Meiji Restoration, to separate shrines and temples which were mixed each other during long Japanese history.
It seems that they moved out the Buddhas outside the shrine.
Because of that, there are the crest of Tokugawa, top family of Edo military government.
